When was your last
mindful moment?

How much does it cost?

The Australia Psychology Society (APS) recommends that psychologists charge $280.00 per session. At Empowering You Psychology, we aspire to find the balance of providing an accessible service whilst also having a fee that reflects our professional skills and experience, so we have decided that our cost per hour is $200.00.

Our Fees

  • 50-minute psychology session     -  $200.00 (with $96.65 rebate per session)

  • 90-minute parent intake session  -  $230.00

  • Letters of support                          - $85.00

  • Psychological reports / recommendations to other treating

professionals (e.g, pediatrician, psychiatrist)  - fee will be based on the time taken to complete, as per hourly rate of $200.00

For individuals being supported through the National Disability Support Scheme (NDIS), the fees have been standardised for psychology:

  • 50-minute psychology session     -  $222.99 (as per standard NDIS guidelines)

  • NDIS Report                                   - $222.99 (per hour as per NDIS guidelines)

*Please note: parent sessions are a mandatory first session for all young people referred from the age of 0-16 years old.

Commonly asked questions

We understand that accessing psychology for the first time can be a bit daunting, so we have created a list of commonly asked questions that we hope can be of help.

What is a mental health care plan (2)_edited.jpg

Firstly, check out the 'about' page to see if what we can offer will be a good fit for you. I believe that an essential ingredient in therapeutic success is our relationship and our ability to work as a team, so feeling like you will 'click' with me is an important first step!

If so, great! Next steps are below.

Step 1: Contact me to explore availability/suitability and our current waitlists through our client intake form

Step 2: Access a 'Mental Health Care Plan' from your GP with our name on it. This will allow you to access 10 psychology sessions per year under the Medicare Better Access Scheme. This refreshes every 12 months and will enable a financial rebate of $96.65 - meaning that you will get this back after paying for the session once the Medicare rebate has been processed.

Step 3: Book a psychology appointment by completing our online inquiry form!

*Please note, you do not have to access a mental health care plan to commence psychology sessions. If you would prefer not to have a plan, then you are welcome to pay the full fee.

While we recognise that we all can be forgetful at times, we like to ask that we respect each other's time. Empowering You Psychology aspire to make remembering appointments as smooth as possible by sending email reminders and respectfully ask that if you would like to change your appointment, that you let us know in 24hrs in advance of your appointment. This will allow us to offer an alternative time to you and your original appointment can be offered to someone who needs it. While we like to remain as flexible and understanding as possible, missed appointments and sessions canceled within 24 hrs of the session will, unfortunately, incur the full fee which is not eligible for a Medicare rebate. Of course, we are all human, and if there are unavoidable circumstances then this will be taken into consideration.

The Australian government has created a scheme called the Medicare Benefits Schedule which allows all Australian citizens and permanent residents access to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year (January to December), with a financial rebate of $96.65 per session.

To access a Mental Health Care Plan, you are welcome to visit your regular GP practice for a confidential discussion about your mental health and options for support.

Given that our overall well-being is an interaction between our physical and mental health, it is always recommended to have an overall health check from your GP if you are experiencing mental health challenges.

The Australian government has created a Medicare rebate to support people to cover the cost of psychology sessions. You are allowed to claim a total of 10 sessions per year (January to December) and will receive a financial rebate of $96.65 for each session that you use. Your Medicare rebate will be automatically processed post-session on our end, minimizing any extra paperwork for you. Medicare can take up to 3-4 weeks before each rebate is processed and returned to your account. You are able to track your medicare rebates via the Services Australia website or the 'Medicare Express Plus' app which can be freely downloaded to your phone.

Please note: if you attend a session without a valid mental health care plan, or are charged a cancellation/no-show fee, unfortunately, you will be unable to claim this on Medicare.

Please feel free to complete the client inquiry form below.

If you can please provide a little bit of insight into what you would like support with / who the support is for, that would be wonderful. This will be helpful to assess if I will be the right fit for you. All questions are warmly welcomed and I aspire to get back to all inquiries, either by phone or email, as soon as possible.

Are you enquiring about a session for you or another person? Required

Thank you for submitting an enquiry. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
